From Two Suitcases to the American Dream
The Story Behind Millcreek A&N Cleaning Services LLC
In December 2019, my husband Adnan, our three children, and I arrived in Erie, Pennsylvania, from Bosnia and Herzegovina with just two suitcases, limited English, and hearts full of dreams. We came to America hoping to build a better future for our children, never imagining how much our lives would change.
Starting over in a new country was not easy. My husband worked long hours at a welding company, while I searched for a way to help support our family and still be present for our children.
I had always loved cleaning, organizing, and creating beautiful, welcoming homes. So I decided to turn that passion into something meaningful.
Our cleaning business started with just $20–$30 a week. I searched for customers, often using a translator to communicate because my English was limited. I didn’t have much experience running a business in America, but I believed that honesty, hard work, and dedication could overcome many obstacles.
Slowly, one customer became two, and two became many. People began recommending us to their friends and families. Every referral was another opportunity, and every customer who trusted us meant the world to me.
Eventually, Adnan joined me, and we began building our dream together, working side by side. In January 2022, we officially established Millcreek A&N Cleaning Services LLC, a family-owned and operated business built on trust, respect, responsibility, and quality.
Today, we proudly serve families and businesses throughout Erie and the surrounding communities. Our services include residential cleaning, commercial cleaning, deep cleaning, move-in and move-out cleaning, post-construction cleaning, window cleaning, and regularly scheduled housekeeping.
But to us, cleaning has never been just about cleaning.
When someone welcomes us into their home or business, they are placing their trust in our hands. We never take that responsibility lightly. We treat every property with the same care and attention we would give our own home.
Some of our very first customers are still with us today. Over the years, many have become dear friends and even feel like family. Their kindness, encouragement, referrals, and loyalty have helped us build not only a successful business but also a sense of belonging in our new community.
We are also grateful for opportunities to give back, including helping elderly members of our community who may need extra support.
One of the proudest moments of our journey came in October 2026, when Millcreek A&N Cleaning Services LLC was named the winner of Erie’s Community Choice Awards for Cleaning Service Company.
Standing on that stage together was an unforgettable moment. We thought about the two suitcases we brought to America, the long working days, the uncertainty, the sacrifices, and every customer who believed in us.
That award was more than recognition for our business. It was a reminder that hard work, honesty, and determination can turn dreams into reality.
We are especially proud that our three children are growing up watching what dedication, education, and perseverance can accomplish. Everything we have built has been inspired by our desire to give them opportunities and a brighter future.
Our family has always believed in one simple message:
“We may not speak English perfectly, but our work will speak for us.”
And our family motto continues to guide us:
“Hard work pays off. Dreams do come true. Never give up!”
To every customer who has opened their door to us, recommended our services, supported our small business, or simply offered us a kind word — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We came to America with two suitcases, but today we have something far more valuable: a community that welcomed us, customers who became friends, and a family business built with love.
Our American Dream is still being written, one home, one customer, and one beautiful opportunity at a time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
